Basera was born from a feeling shared by two founders- intimate, nagging, and softly potent. A feeling that home should not only be a location, but a feeling. One that you go to, but one that goes to you as well. Basera means home. But to us, it has always meant more. The gentle clink and slide of a glass of water and the glass of a small wine, joined together, on a small dining table set for two. I imagine the smooth sculpture of a figurine that catches the last rays of the sun in the afternoon. The quiet that accompanies a thoughtfully chosen piece. We did not start Basera to fill the cupboards with stuff- we wanted to fill space with meaning. To make things that appeal to the senses and feel comfortable and familiar the very moment they arrive. That silently, and with time, will gather meaning. Each collection is a dialogue- Bespoke conversation. One of metal with a memory, one of memory with metal. One of the time bound to the texture to be felt by the fingers. Our pieces are not attention grabbing. Our pieces are shy and softly spoken, and donapt swoop down to snatch it furtively. They invite attention. We consider utility infused with a human spirit to be beauty. That a platter is capable of narrating a certain tale. That a vase can possess a certain mood. That the act of giving is not an exchange, but a portrayal of one’s presence. At Basera, we curate for the everyday. For the ordinary that is sacred.
We craft for those times when a house takes on a life of its own.
It catches you by surprise yet assures you, an experience you can’t shake.
